As Sam drives you from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya you will see several tea plantations along the way. Don't hesitate to ask Sam to stop whenever and wherever! Sam is there to make your trip wonderful and allow for photo opportunities at any time. Also, don't forget to stop at a simple rural roadside tea-stop where tourists don't normally stop!

Blue Field Tea Gardens
Tea is Sri Lanka! When visiting Sri Lanka you must visit a tea plantation!
The Blue Field Gardens tea plantation/facility is a 97 year old tea factory near Nuwara Eliya. We were shown through the facility, tried a few cups and bought a few packets :) Was fun. Love tea. Apparently mostly picked and processed by Tamil women originally from South of India. I gained a new appreciation and love for tea!

Train from Nuwara Eliya to Ella
Today we thought we'd catch a train from Nuwara Eliya to Ella. A 3-4hr ride. Sam took our luggage in the car so we only had to carry a small bag with water etc. It is a very scenic section through massive mountains and tea plantations. Unfortunately all we saw was bodies :) Fun experience none the less. Lucky Ree got a bit of a seat after an hour, and I stood up mostly.
If you want a local experience, go do the train! There are also fancy tourist trains you can book well in advance, but this is what we were after :)
